Spectacle
OSX doesn't give you the ability to open an app in fullscreen (without moving it to a new desktop) or to resize it to exactly the half of your screen. I find myself barely always working this way to be honest: IDE on the left with terminal at the bottom and chrome on the right with DevTool at the bottom.
Installation
- https://www.spectacleapp.com/ and click on
Download Spectacle
- Once downloaded, you open the zip and drag the application to your Application folder.
- Then you open it, the first time it will request you to grant some privileges to work, don't hesitate and give it what it wants.
- You should now see a new icon in your top right corner
Usage
For any windows you have, you can move and size them with shortcuts:
cmd
+alt
+right arrow
and the current window will stick to you right side of the screen and take all the size of the widthcmd
+alt
+left arrow
same but to the leftcmd
+alt
+top arrow
you have itcmd
+alt
+bottom arrow
...cmd
+alt
+F
to take the full screen size (it's a bit different than the expand, green, button in the top left corner of a window)
